About

A weary young revolutionary bokang moots ‘talks’ as a way out of the ‘old’ south africa until his follower joni aligns with phaphama, a radical member of the youth Movement to oppose the compromise thus threatening the unity of the Movement and a possible civil war leading to the assassination of phaphama and forcing joni to join bokang in his fatal peace solution.
call of the revolution's children is a one-man stage play set in pimville, soweto, spanning roughly three decades of south african history, from the height of the anti-apartheid struggle in the 1980s through to the post-apartheid era of the 2000s.

the play is narrated by joni, now an adult, who is travelling by taxi to attend the tombstone unveiling of phaphama, a fallen comrade. As he journeys through familiar soweto landmarks, he reflects on his youth and the three central figures whose lives became intertwined through revolutionary politics.
