Six celli of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra have formed an ensemble called CELLISSIMO. They will play a beautiful programme ranging from traditional classics to popular tunes from the silver screen with Peter Martens, Eddie McLean, Matthias Remley-Ender, Ashlin Grobbelaar, Rosamund Roth and Dane Coetzee.

Favourite soprano, Zanne Stapelberg, together with pianist Albie van Schalkwyk and an ensemble of Suretha Theron on clarinet, joined by Nadine Roussopoulos on violin and Rosamund Roth on cello, present classical favourites, musical theatre gems, operatic highlights, and music from Africa, such as Song to the Moon from Dvorák’s Rusalka, Quando m’en vo from Puccini’s La Bohème, and If I Loved You from Carousel. Expect a performance that is elegant, refined, and overflowing with joy.

The pride of the Valley of Grace, the Genadendal Brass Band, presents a programme rooted in tradition, devotion, and enduring musical craftsmanship. They are joined by rising star in brass performance, tubist Likhona Tokota, who will perform the iconic Fnugg Blue by composer Øystein Baadsvik.

PRAISE OF DANCE This visually and aurally arresting production weaves together the grace and precision of ballet (Bianca Carmen Schulz Poblete), the fire and emotional depth of contemporary flamenco (Che Adams), and the rich, virtuosic sound of classical guitar (Nina Fourie-Gouws) and violin (Renée van der Westhuizen) performing Bach, Arvo Pärt, Piazzolla and Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring.

Clarinettist Féroll-Jon Davids joins a string quartet—violins Ralitza Macheva and Shannon Cook; viola Azra Isaacs; cello Rosamund Roth—to play klezmer, tango, opera, classical masterworks, ballet, and jazz by Piazzolla, Satie, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Weber, Kovács, Bizet and John Rutter

Step through the curtain and enter the world of operatic giants—Mozart, Handel, Donizetti—where every piece is a universe of emotion, each note charged with longing, triumph, and breathtaking intensity. A nine-member string ensemble and piano under the masterful direction of Elna van der Merwe create a luminous soundscape, lifting the extraordinary voices of William Berger, Lynelle Kenned, Minette du Toit-Pearce, and Corneil Muller to dazzling heights.

This concert celebrates a remarkable musical milestone: the 200th anniversary of the first performance of Schubert’s iconic string quartet Death and the Maiden (D810). The programme also features one of his most profound chamber works, the String Quartet in C minor (Quartettsatz, D703), with String Quartet Miroslav Chakaryan, Annien Shaw, Karin Gaertner, and Susan Mouton.

Carl Orff’s magnificent masterpiece performed by William Berger, Lynelle Kenned and Minette du Toit-Pearce, with the Symphony Choir of Cape Town, WindWorx Symphonic Wind Ensemble, the SACS Boys High School Choir and local school choirs.
