Herschelle Benjamin’s play, Joshlin: Meer as ’n naam, deals with the tragic disappearance of six-year-old Joshlin Smith. Christo Davids’s Laaitie mettie biscuits tells the story of Noah, a 16-year-old boy with Down syndrome and big dreams of one day becoming a policeman to protect his people. The play is dedicated to Nathaniel Julies, who was allegedly shot dead by police officers in Eldorado Park in 2020. How does one turn reality into drama?
