Hymns for The Unfree is a night of gwijo, jazz, poetry and visual art led by Koketso, whose distinctive voice has long carried through protest, spiritual jazz and poetic collaborations. Joined by poet Makhafula Vilakazi and iPhupho L’ka Biko founder, bassist and composer Nhlanhla Ngqaqu, who serves as musical director, Koketso reimagines gwijo as a form of testimony, memory and resistance.
