The Annual Peace Lecture NEW DATE: 9 OCTOBER 2026
NEW SPEAKER: JODY WILLIAMS
Nobel Peace Prize Laureate. Live. One afternoon only.
Important update:
Due to unforeseen circumstance, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dame Sarah Mullally, is no longer able to join us. We're thrilled to welcome Nobel Peace Prize laureate Jody Williams in her place, on Friday 9 October 2026.
Jody Williams took on landmines and won. Now she's taking on the way the world thinks about security.
In 1992, Jody Williams launched a campaign against one of the deadliest weapons on earth. It grew from a handful of organizations to more than 1,300 groups in over 85 countries, and within five years it produced a global treaty banning anti-personnel landmines and earned her the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize.
She didn't stop.
As chair of the Nobel Women's Initiative, which she co-founded, Jody stands with women peacebuilders on the front lines of conflict worldwide. This April, she took the stage at the Kyiv Security Forum with a message that cuts against the grain: real security means protecting people, not just borders.
In a world of rising conflict and shrinking patience, she is one of the few voices who has actually changed the rules, and she is coming to Cape Town.
Expect hard truths and a surprising amount of hope.
