RHAPSODY IN BLUE

From the stirring patriotism of Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man to the irresistible jazz-infused brilliance of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, this is music that captures the spirit, energy and optimism of America. Gershwin’s I Got Rhythm Variations and Dvorák’s magnificent “New World” Symphony complete a programme that is bold, exuberant and utterly unforgettable.

Arjan Tien is Principal Guet Conductor of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra and has an extensive international career. Charl du Plessis is one of South Africa’s most distinctive pianists, equally at home in classical music and jazz. A Steinway Artist since 2010, he performs around the world.

There is a pre-concert talk at 18:45 open to concertgoers.
