The Free State Symphony Orchestra presents Love Good Music, an evening of lyricism, drama and vibrant orchestral energy under conductor Gerry Cornelius. Acclaimed cellist Peter Martens joins the orchestra for Shostakovich’s powerful Cello Concerto No. 1. The programme opens with Malcolm Arnold’s graceful Serenade for Small Orchestra, followed by the theatrical colour of Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos – Overture and Dance Scene. Poulenc’s spirited Sinfonietta completes an evening of virtuosity, wit and irresistible musical flair.
