Round 4 of the Western Cape Club Rally Championship is exactly what its name suggests: it’s run over a number of short, very tight special stages using sections of the main circuit, the access roads - and even through the pits paddock!
There are six stages totaling 70 kilometres - all in and around the Killarney facility, and all on tar instead of the usual gravel roads, so it’s suitable for - and open to - circuit racing cars, rallycross cars and gymkhana cars as well as purpose-built rally cars.
Spectating at a conventional rally usually entails a long trip out to the country and a lot of standing around outdoors – at the All Tar Rally you can watch most of the action sitting comfortably in the shade of the Joubert Pits Lounge balcony, with a delicious meal, an ice-cold beverage or a mug of Cape Town’s finest coffee at your elbow!
The balcony overlooks one of our kiddies play areas, so the most important members of your family are never out of your sight – and between stages there are exhibitions and displays to delight motorsport fans of all ages.
The All Tar Rally is tight, twisty and very intense - it’s like competing in a gymkhana course 70 kilometres long!
