ROTI QUEEN is a vibrant, one-woman play that follows Amrita, a young South African Indian woman navigating love, marriage, and identity within the expectations of family and tradition. Once a passionate dancer with bold ambitions, she now finds herself negotiating the space between her dreams and her domestic reality. Through a dynamic fusion of storytelling, physical theatre, and comedy, Amrita embodies a range of colourful and deeply recognisable characters, revealing the humour and complexity of everyday life.
Underscored by Bollywood-inspired music and movement, the performance is further brought to life through the live making of roti on stage, serving as a powerful metaphor for care, culture, and the repetitive cycles of duty.
