MAMA-DEMIC is a documentary film by award-winning director and producer, Nicole Schafer. Inside the maternity ward of a busy South African public hospital, doctor Ayanda Ntinga, a single mother of twins, navigates the demands of motherhood alongside her medical career. She dreams of becoming a specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology, but budget cuts have reduced the number of training posts. As she faces mounting health and social crises - from staff shortages to power cuts and a rise in teenage pregnancies - Dr Ntinga is determined to make a difference in young women’s lives.
