About

416 Booysens Street is a play about two brothers-at-heart, who built everything together fall into a dangerous love triangle with a woman, torn between passion and stability. A single betrayal threatens to destroy their brotherhood, their business, and everything they have fought for to rise above. Tablet and Kotsi's (real names, Sbonelo and Katiso) meet when Kotsi steps in to protect Tablet from a group of bullies in Grade 8.

What starts as an act of bravery grows into an unbreakable bond; The two quickly become inseparable in their mischief, fawning over Mandisa (a smart, beautiful girl in their grade) and business, secretly selling sweets (Kotsi’s sweet tooth) and over-the-counter medicine (Tablet’s thieving nurse mother) to their classmates to make pocket money. They bond over school tours, games of marbles, discover porn together and compete in the puberty Olympics and teach each other how to fight. Years later, as adults determined to remain entrepreneurs, they open a basement fight club called 416 Booysens Street.

Their friendship reached an impasse due to infidelity and disloyalty and after nearly a year of not seeing or speaking to one another, Kotsi shows up uninvited to 416, seeking: revenge, money, and a way back into the underground business they started together. Not much is said, they let their fists do the talking in front of an audience/their regulars at 416.
