About

ANNa follows a blind ninety-seven-year-old Black woman suspended between worlds, unable to cross because her ancestors will not fetch her until she softens what has hardened within. Her name—Anna, meaning grace, umusa, and Na, the salt of memory—carries both tenderness and bitterness. Blindness draws her closer to the voices beneath the earth; age sharpens her spiritual sight. Through song, salt, and silence, she journeys back to the girl she was, the daughter, friend, mother, and woman she became, confronting wounds she avoided and those she inflicted.

Though fragile, she remains fiercely alive, naviga5ng the dangers of both the seen and unseen with stubborn grace. As she circles through stories shaped by war, loss, laughter, and survival, salt gathers around her like a map of what s5ll needs release. ANNa is a ritual of reckoning, a poe5c excava5on of a Black woman with a spirit that refuses to be simplified, learning to forgive herself so she may one day finally rest.
