About

Ela Nxeba, Lakudala follows two sisters that have been no contact since moving out of their parents’ house. The build to this, was the complex dynamics between the older sister and younger sister, one being narcissistic and one being emotionally intelligent. They are reunited because of their paternal grandmother, who has passed on, and raised them both.

Through this conversation they are conflicting about the way in which their grandmother enjoyed their tea, through this they uncover childhood traumas they have both endured, through the different steps in which the tea is made, the way in which table is set, and how the cup is stirred. Does the first sip leave a bitter taste in one’s mouth? Or is it soothing enough to confront the events that led them to no longer be in each other’s lives.
